Marathons, ball gowns and spooky happenings at Studio B61…

Did you know it’s been a whole year this month since Hannah got the keys to Unit 7 and transformed it into our creative home?

A lot has changed in that year and we’re now over 3 months into life at Studio B61!

We’ve had a lot of adventures this month – here’s our favourites:

A marathon not a sprint

The Lucky 13 team ran the Birmingham Marathon this month as the final race in their year-long fundraising challenge.

They ran 12 half-marathons and one full marathon in 12 months – that’s over 182 miles in total, plus all the training runs they’ve done!

We were pleased to support them as their media partner, helping them reach their fundraising target by lending a hand with some promotional photography, printing t-shirts for them and their supporters and doing their PR.

The story was featured by The Bromsgrove Advertiser (front page!)The Redditch Advertiser, and featured as a top story on the ITV news.

You can still support them and donate on their fundraising page.

Out and about

We’ve been out and about at several different events this month.

The first event was the Ralawise Autumn/Winter showcase in Birmingham. We print t-shirts, hoodies, uniforms and other garments at Studio B61, and we’re looking to expand that side of the business, so this was a great opportunity to see samples of all the latest garments – including the Christmas range!

Our full online catalogue will be launching really soon but if you’re looking for new uniforms, personalised garment gifts or a new Christmas jumper then get in touch!

We also attended a charity ball at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, organised by our clients Harris Lamb. They were raising money for Edward’s Trust, a local charity who support children and families going through bereavement.

The event successfully raised £14,000 for the charity and we had a lovely evening with clients, family and friends joining us on our table.

Hannah designed the menus, invited and seating plan for the event and we got to announce the grand total to their mailing list when we designed and sent this month’s newsletter – so it was great to be part of the event from start to finish.

We also had a trip to Worcester to catch up with Titania and celebrate their Queen’s Award win, as they were officially presented with it at their offices last week. We help with their design and print, so it was great to catch up with the team and celebrate their win!

Awards everywhere!

We’ve also had some awards success of our own to celebrate, as only 3 months in and we’re a finalist for the F2N New Business of the Year Award 2017!

Busy Bees

Hannah also got out of the office to do some photography this month – visiting one of our clients to take some photos that can be used to help promote their farm.

Her close up image of the beekeepers at work was selected by a Facebook community of Worcestershire photographers as their photo of the day!

Brand new

We work with some big corporate clients, but every so often a new start-up comes along and it gives us the chance to really flex our creative muscles!

This month we’ve been supporting the team behind new commercial property company Creative Retail, to design their visual branding and stationery and help get them off the ground.

Hannah designed their logo, business cards, letterheads, compliment slips and email signatures – everything a brand needs from day one.

She loves to incorporate her own photography into her design work, but if time and/or budget are tight, stock images come in really handy – and with some clever retouching in Photoshop you can still create something unique and make it your own – like this bold image for their website…

What we’ve been working on
Halloween at Arley Arboretum

Halloween and October Half-Term is one of the busiest times for tourist attractions like Arley Arboretum. We manage their social media, website and online advertising, as well as design their marketing materials, so it’s been a busy few weeks for us promoting it all!

They had plenty of family-friendly activities going on and we encouraged people to share photos with us on their Facebook page to increase engagement, which really boosted their page reach for the whole week!

Social media success

User generated content is working really well for another one of our social media clients at the moment. Halloween was the perfect opportunity to run a spooky competition getting people to send in their best fancy dress selfies – and it’s really boosted their Twitter engagement:

Queens Court

We’ve been working with Queens Court Trading Estate to help them promote their vacant units.

We designed the brochure and built the website using all our own photography to make sure it’s really shown in the best light. The front of the estate was repainted last month so at the start of the month we went back to get some updated images to keep their listings fresh.

Networking ready

We’re booked to attend a few different networking events next month – and we’re even speaking at one organised by the University of Worcester.

Hannah designed our new business cards which we printed in-house. We can do in-house lamination now so we decided to matt laminate our cards. It makes them last longer and gives them a nicer finish.

Make sure you ask us for one if you see us out and about!
