Photography does a 360° at B61 in September

Posted by Hannah Tolley on

It’s been a photography heavy month in September.

We all know that Alec loves his drones but we think we may have discovered something he loves even more. He has been experimenting with his newest toy – the GoPro 360° Fusion. He’s been practicing with it throughout September ready to start offering 360° tours for our property clients. Imagine having a video of the inside of an industrial unit or office block where people can turn the camera and see the whole interior as if they were there in person.

“I’ve been loving experimenting with the new 360° camera over the last 2 weeks. Getting my head around the editing is going to be a new challenge but I’m super excited about it.

I’m enjoying looking at things in a new way and there’s so many options. The way you can edit the same shot and get 1000 different outcomes is blowing my mind.

For example, the following 2 photos of me on the bench are the same shot. Crazy!” – Alec

Hannah was on-site this month at local software company, Rimillia taking some new photos to replace the current stock images on their website. She took some new headshots for the team page along with some candid shots of the teams at work. Stock images are great but you can’t beat real photos of your staff in their workplace. They will always give your company more personality and gain customers trust. We look forward to seeing the shots on the new website.

The cameras (and staff) also left the country this month with Hannah heading to Sorrento in Italy for a week and Alec island hopping through Croatia for a week. These two definitely have different ideas of a holiday – Alec explored the coastline with adventures, hikes and bike rides. Check out Alec’s blog post ‘Capturing Culture in Croatia’ to see some of his shots from the week.

Hannah on the other hand, sat in the sun and chilled for the week – which we’ll let her off for, it’s been a crazy year for Studio B61.

“Sorrento was absolutely beautiful and I would have loved to get my camera out more but in all honesty, I wanted to enjoy the break. I ate, drank and absorbed all the sunshine I could before returning to rainy England. I did take a really nice long exposure from the roof of the hotel the one night though… Long exposures is something I’ve only started exploring recently and I’m really pleased with this shot” – Hannah

Did you follow Alec and Hannah’s photo competition throughout August? It ended up rolling into September with a ‘sudden death’ final after a draw.

Hannah was determined to win the Insta photography competition and decided that a picture of a 9 week old puppy would be just the thing to win the competition – So to much of the enjoyment of the rest of Studio B61 Hannah did a photoshoot in the Studio with ‘Teddy’.

However, despite Hannah’s best efforts, Alec grabbed the winning title of their Instagram photography competition. He used a beautiful night time shot in his home town of Bewdley, that won the public’s vote. Watch this space for more photography adventures!

Check out the blog post ‘Hit me with your best shot’ to see each week’s submission and who won each round.

Alec has been out on a few drone shots this month. We’ve had a really good first season of Drone Photography and are excited to bring it back next Spring/Summer. We’ll hopefully still be doing some drone jobs over the winter, but obviously due to the nature of it, it’s very weather dependant and the British weather isn’t too kind to drones throughout Autumn/Winter. We’re sure Alec will still get out with the drone for some winter sun shots though – he’s definitely not putting the drone down just yet!

Check back next month in the October edit where we’ll be sharing much more design work. We are currently working on a massive branding project for local glamping site and some corporate brochures which we are excited to share with you soon.
