In April, both Alec and Hannah attended a course with Drone Pilot Academy to train to become commercial drone pilots. We already offer ground photography within the commercial property industry so it made sense to take to the skies and offer aerial photography too.
After an intense 3 day course, they both passed all their theory exams, including reading aviation charts, and Alec was ready to take his practical exam. Most students dont take their practical exam on the same day of the course, they go away and practice some of the techniques they’ve learnt over the 3 days – Mainly flying the drones without the use of GPS, which is an important fail safe to learn how to do. Hannah will be practising over the next fews months, to take the practical exam later this year.
Studio B61 Ltd is now permitted by the Civil Aviation Authority to be in charge of Small Unmanned Aircraft and Small Unmanned Surveillance Aircraft (Aka drone with a camera on) to conduct commercial operations.

We would also like to say a massive thanks to Drone Pilot Academy for their expert training, we’ve been in touch with Jim since the course and he’s helpful answering any industry questions we have and with the application process to the CAA.
