August has been an exciting month for Studio B61 – We celebrated our 1st Birthday at the beginning of the month.
The past year has absolutely flown by, read all about our first birthday in ‘A year of B61’.
The team has expanded again this month – Hannah Tolley officially joined the team as Office Manager in August.
Hannah worked for Hannah (we know, it’s confusing) for several years, helping with admin part-time. She has now joined the Studio B61 team as Office Manager, running the day-to-day of the business and making sure everything is getting done when it’s meant to – She runs a tight ship!
“I’m really glad to have Hannah T in the office full-time. She’s always been a massive help to the business over the years. It’s great to have her as a fully fledged member of the team now.” – Hannah D
Throughout the month, Hannah D and Alec have been doing a weekly photography competition – Each week they’ve had a theme to follow and posted their entries to Instagram for the public to vote on whose photo that week was their favourite.
“I’ve done several monthly photo competitions before, but never head 2 head with another photographer – It’s been a good way to motivate us to get out with our cameras. Some of the themes have been real challenging, but it’s been interesting to see how we’ve both interpreted them differently each week ” – Hannah D
Come back next week for the blog post to see the results.
At the start of the month Alec was on site in Birmingham for Darby Keye Property getting some drone shots for their property portfolio.
Who knew an industrial unit could look so beautiful?
Alec has really been making the most of the summer this month, cramming in the drone jobs while the weather’s still good. He headed out to Cheltenham at the crack of dawn the one morning to get the following shot before it got busy.
From an early morning shot to a golden hour shot. This job in malvern was the last job of the day – the client needed the shot to be taken after 5pm, whilst there was no one on site. The sky was insane with the malvern hills in the background – don’t worry, we have some less dramatic shots for the sales brochure!
Hannah has also been doing some photography this month in the studio for SilverBack Xtreme’s new website we are working on.
Brad messaged us after seeing the first draft of the website with
“You’ve really got the eye for what I wanted it to look like!”
It’s great to get some good feedback from the client as the project comes together.
Head over to our blog post ‘SBX photoshoot goes up in smoke’ to see how the rest of the photos came out.
Hannah has also been out on-site this month with the mobile studio set-up. She revisited Bromwich Hardy in Coventry to photograph a couple of new team members who have joined recently. Hannah originally visited their offices last year and set up the mobile studio in their board room to take headshots. The great thing about professional lighting set-ups is we can keep the consistency every time, so everyone’s headshots look like they were taken at the same time.
Okay, look away now if you don’t want to feel depressed about the fact Summer is almost over…
We finished up August designing our first Christmas campaign of the year!
Hannah designed this flyer for Severn Valley Railway’s annual Christmas Cracker Express event.
“It was great fun to step away from the corporate design work and design something for children – even if it did put me in the Christmas mood a bit prematurely!” – Hannah D
